Is Time Machine backing up iPhoto on Maverick?

I've upgraded to Maverick and iphoto 11. I wanted to look in Time Machine to see the pictures in iphoto to make sure they were being backed up. It used to be on Snow Leopord I could open Iphoto then Time Machine and see the pics in back up. I don't see that now. The finder opens up at the library but no pictures. When I try to open up the library its just the icon. Right click on the icon and it shows 23gb. Should be much more. Is there a way to verify it's backing up my pics.

You could try to look for selected image files in the backup by revealing your photos in the Finder.

Select an image in iPhoto and use the command "File > Real Original".

That will open a Finder window showing the folder with your original file. Now, with this Finder window being the frontmost window, enter Time Machine and look along the time line, if you can see the folder with the backed up original files.
