Is your office computer a Windows system and is it running a version of Windows Pro? You need Windows Pro. You can't connect to a Windows Home system.

There is a MS Remote Desktop coient for Mac. It comes with MS Office 2011 for Mac.

But to access your work com[uter from over the internet you have to setup the office router to allow connections from the nwet to your office computer.

My wifes office (a school) computer is a Mini Mac, but I think the server is setup to also run MS Office products. She has currently been accessing remotely via a Windows based laptop which this computer is replacing. So she currently has remote login access.
