I changed my Facebook username after logging into the iOS Facebook integration thing in settings and now I can't change the username to the correct one

Ok so I logged into the iOS Facebook thing (not the app) with my email address in Settings and then I changed my username in the Facebook app (while still using my email address to get into the app). This message came up saying the my password was wrong. The username didn't change and it kept asking for my password (I tried several times). I tried to delete my account but it kept asking for my password for the old username. What should I do? I've tried uninstalling the Facebook app as well several times too and using. different account in the app.

Can you go to Settings->Facebook, and change the username and password there?

I've tried that many times. I can only type in the password and can't change the username. The username that's linked is not valid anymore so i won't work if I do type in the right password. Any way to change it?

When I press delete nothing happens. I've tried restarting and all that but no change at all

Hi Lemmypaws,

Looks very similar to the issue we had in another group. I got an iPad Air bundled with my new 5s and whilst the facebook integration on the 5s worked sweet, on the iPad Air there seems to be a glitch. Installed it from icloud backup and it tried to collect the user and password for facebook (as it is used without issues on my old iPhone 4s and the iPad VI Retina) but now want the password for an old hotmail account which has been dead and deregistered fro 2 years. weird right.

So apple support suggested to wipe the ipad air, completely, everything, and instead of an icloud backup based reinstall start as a new iPad. Quite a pain, but hey, facebook is now cleanly installed, I was able to enter the correct current email and login and tatata it works.

If all else fails, try that. Now I just need to see whether all remains stable. I started by adding my mac sorry icloud account and all the contact, notes and so on were resynced. facebook still works so I assume that the glitch is fixed. Its half an hours work with a WIFI 100 MBit connection. no idea how long it would take with a slower one.

So if you are stuck in that vicious circle like I was and you cannot delete the "wrong/old" facebook account in SETTINGS this helped me. Good Luck!
