Bonjour has stopped working

I have a Macbook Pro running Mavericks (10.9.1) and Bonjour has stopped working. My printers show up on other mac devices but not this one. Is there a way to switch on Bonjour?

Open Activity Monitor and look for a process called mDNSResponder. Do you have it listed?

Note that you can enable a Bonjour browser function in Safari. Open Safari preferences, select Advanced and you will see a Bonjour section where you can add Bonjour to your Favorites bar. With this selected you will see all Bonjour devices on your local network.

If the Sharescreen button is not appearing in Finder when you connect from one Mac to another, you can use Finders "Connect to Server" facility. With this window open, type vnc://Mac-name.local and press Go. If screen sharing is enabled on the destination Mac, the screen sharing application will open. Otherwise you will get a message requesting you to enable it.

I have a Epson WF-2530 Bonjour enabled wireless printer that I cannot connect to in 10.9. I go to Printers & Scanners, then Add, and no printers appear. I can connect to it from other devices, including my iPad via AirPrint (which uses Bonjour), but not from my Mac.

Additionally, I couldn't connect to any of my Airport Extremes from my Mac to change settings on them – but could on my iPad.

Also, I can't use AirPlay Mirroring to mirror my Mac's display onto an Apple TV.

Even Bonjour Browser shows nothing while my iPad shows many Bonjour services... I've tried everything to no avail. I'm going crazy trying to get it to work.

I am not sure how to isolate this further with what you have told us. It appears to be a WiFi issue. Can you tell us a bit about your WiFi set up? Do you have a base station and airport express units? What is the model of yhour base station. How is/are your network(s) set up? For instance what kind of encryption method is used (e.g. WPA/Personal). What version of Airport Utility are you using? When did you update the firmware settings on your wifi devices?

Yes, a lot of questions but your answers will help. FYI I had WiFi issues similar to yours and, like you, I was going crazy. It turned out that an encryption method setting on one of my networks in the new base station had to be changed. Once I did that everything popped back to normal - instantly. This feels like a settings issue to me.
