Dec 16, 2013 7:19 PM in response to Larry Wassonby Barney-15E,How are you trying to sync. Sync through iTunes is no longer supported in Mavericks.
The iCloud calendars should match on both if you are signed into the same iCloud account.

Dec 17, 2013 10:29 AM in response to Barney-15Eby Larry Wasson,Trying to sync through iCloud. Both the Mac and iPad are using the same iCloud account. Thought maybe signing out of the Mac iCloud account and signing back in might solve the problem, but that complicated things. This eliminated contacts On My Mac and duplicated them in iCloud and still the calendars do not sync.

Dec 19, 2013 10:14 AM in response to Linc Davisby Larry Wasson,Thanks Linc. Started to clean up the duplicate events On My Mac calendar which there were many. Backed up everything, restored, still same problem. Decided to add a couple of events for a test. Realized then that when you add an event to the default On My Mac calendar it does not add it to the iCloud calendar unless you specifically do so. Now everything shows correctly in iCloud.
Would like to have On My Mac account in the Contacts so I do not have to have all of them on iCloud. Is this a possibility?

Dec 19, 2013 11:23 AM in response to Larry Wassonby Linc Davis,There should already be an On My Mac category in the list of contact groups. Any contacts you put in there will not be synced with iCloud.

Dec 19, 2013 12:34 PM in response to Linc Davisby Larry Wasson,There was an On My Mac category, but as I soon as I synced with iCloud it was replaced by the iCloud category. If I unsync with iCloud On My Mac reappears and then disappears when I sync. It seems you are only allowed one or the other accounts to be active.

Dec 19, 2013 1:44 PM in response to Larry Wassonby Linc Davis,★HelpfulI don't sync contacts with iCloud myself, so I can't test. With iCloud sync disabled, select On My Mac as the default account in Contacts preferences. Re-enable sync, then see whether the selection is still there.

Dec 19, 2013 2:39 PM in response to Linc Davisby Larry Wasson,Did not see a way to make On My Mac as the default account in contacts preferences. However, instead of syncing with iCloud used Contacts account preferences to add an iCloud account. Then just copied contacts from All iCloud to All on My Mac.
