How do I stop my screensaver from running in the middle of games?

Only since updated to Mavericks have I begun encountering the issue of my screensaver starting in the middle of any game, seemingly whether full screen or windowed.

The issue may due to Adobe playing catch-up with the new OS. I also think the problem could be isolated to when I am using a gamepad

Instead of being stuck waiting for some company to figure out whatever the heck they're doing, is there a way I might perform a quick fix for the issue by somehow assigning a hotkey to disable/reenable my screensaver? Or will I have to go into system preferences each time I start and end a game.

Mac Pro, Mac OS 9.0.x

TheBuggman,

if you rely only on your gamepad when this happens, and don’t need to move your cursor around with your mouse/trackpad/trackball/&c., you could open the Desktop & Screen Saver pane in System Preferences, select the Screen Saver tab, select the “Hot Corners…” button, and set one of your screen’s corners to “Disable Screen Saver”. (I use the upper left corner for this.) When you’re about to play your gamepad game, move the cursor to the corner that you’d selected, and the screen saver won’t start.

Try Caffeine - it's free ! Don't know if it works in Mav but it's fine in ML

Wow, I'm almost certain this is perfect for me! But, despite it being free, they still require a valid card number for App Store. I've recently (just hours ago) called in for replacements for all of my cards [due to some possible attempts at fraud] so it will be a few days before I can report back.

Thank you so much for giving me a heads up on this, though. I'll definitely let you know how well it works for me.

Right, yes, now I just daft for so narrowly missing that. My apologies, I've been a little distracted recently.

I've tested it out and it works perfectly. This is just what I needed. Thank you greatly for checking back and giving me that light wake-up smack.

Edit: This will also help with an unrelated issue of keeping my computer's screensaver on a timer for when I'm streaming media to a separate device. Whenever my screensaver cuts on, I lose the connection for the stream. But, with this, I can set the screensaver to turn back on in several hours to avoid getting out of bed and moving my cursor away from the "disable screensaver" hot corner.
