troubleshooting software update errror

my software update got dwnloaded but i gt an error message sayin "cant b saved cus of 3rd party application or interference. how do i troubleshoot ths? my current os is osx 10.7.2

ever since i bout my mac in 2012 i havnt been able to upgrade it .please help
