Kenote Gradient Not working

In this video the instructor created a gradient in Keynote, in a shape, where the top color is black set to 0% and bottom color is black set to 100%. He used it as a text background over an image. I tried to do exactly the same thing and it's not working in my version of Keynote.

When I try to adjust the opacity levels of the top color both colors change to the same level. I can't seem to adjust the levels of each gradient.My version of Keynote is 5.3

Please advise.

This is a limitation of the MacBooks graphics system.

On my iMac which has an NVIDIA dedicated graphics card, the grad works perfectly, where as only the top of the range 15" MacBook has a graphics card installed.

Do you mean that it will only work on Macs with this graphic card? Or it work on yours not necessarily because you have the card.

Yes, because of the lack of a dedicated graphics card in the Macbook.

I regularly see this when other folk bring their Macbooks in and they wonder why my ten year old PowrMac outperforms the latest Macbooks for graphics content.

So my Macbook Pro is only three years old. Do you suggest I change the graphics card? Is it possible?
