Serial number Not Available

Serial number Not Available

Hello!

When update my mac to OS X mountain lion my Serial Number will erase. I don´t change logic board or any piece and i update to Mavericks but the problem perssist.Can anyone help me?

Where are you looking for your Serial Number?

You can also find it in About This Mac. Click on the Apple logo (upper left corner of your screen), About This Mac and then at the screen you see, click on OS X 10.8.x and you will see the build number then click it again to see your Serial Number.

Hi Jose,

This is a new one on me!???

Might try this...

Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.

If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

Thanks , for the explain and sorry for my english. I try explain that, the serial number didn't appear in About my Mac and I try fix it install last OS ( now I use Mavericks ).

Thanks for the reply , i tried to reset pvram and nvram settings bootup holding cmd+opt+p+r and nothing happend ( i read in a few sites, the serial number was store in nvram).

I will try repair permission for the disk, but for the moment I didn't think reinstall OS ( i haven't a backup properly).

Ok.

Have you tried System Information from the Utilities folder within /Applications? Open System Information and you should see a screen like below with the serial number listed.

When you say you tried resetting PRAM, did you power off the Mac Mini, press the 4 keys and power back on? It's sort of tricky. Power off, then back on and immediately press the 4 keys (command+option+R+P). Keep them held down until the Mac Mini restarts again.
