If I have to operate my imac in safe mode just for a simple download its a sign for me to give up using this app and its in-apps.
It really should not be necessary, Coby, only Safe Mode is a very versatile trouble shooting method to recognize and fix system trouble.
If booting in Safe mode should solve the problem, you would know, that you have installed some third party software, that is interfering with the Internet connection between your computer and the server of the lesson store. There are many applications that could be causing this - anti virus filters, fire walls, incompatible plug-ins, components, device drivers, kernel extensions. Safe mode will disable these. It is the standard test to check for problematic installations.
The second best option would be to try to download from a different user account. This would help to exclude any problematic settings or startup items in your user account.
Bit if you are sure, that you have not installed any third party software, and all your Apple applications are updated to the latest release and compatible with Mt. Lion, skip that test.
