Q: iMac 21.5 inch early 2013 won't respond to mouse clicks

I had a dialog box asking if I wanted to restart the computer after some updates, i did and the machine locked up. I eventually manually restarted the computer, but now it will not respond to mouse clicks, the pointer moves but no selection/activation. I tried another mouse and switching USB ports all to no avail.

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

    Mountain Lion Recovery

Boot up from your computer by holding down the command+r keys.  This will take you to the recovery drive.

Select Disk Utility & hit Return.

In Disk Utility select the HD on the left & click on Repair Disk (bottom right).

    Please report back the results.
