I have a 28-page picture book that I was going to make available to friends and family for Christmas. The proceeds were going to to a charity. I reviewed all the documentation and submitted my little ebook. More than a week later and it's still in review. When I called support, all I was told is there is no way to find out where the book is in the review process because the review team doesn't discuss its work with the support team. All I wanted was an understanding of where I am in the queue so I can reorganize my marketing efforts. They couldn't tell me that either. Very discouraged.
I've scoured the forums and determined iBooks can be in review limbo for as little as seven hours or as long as several weeks. I really think Apple should better spell out its review processes.
They ruined my Christmas.
