The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing . . .

Lately, when I launch iTunes, I get a small pop-up on the desktop that says "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."

I haven't installed any new CD-DVD related sofware. I did follow the complete procedure for removing all traces of Apple software, and reinstalled iTunes. No change. I have no problem editing the registry if someone will tell me what to fix.

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)
