Suddenly some of my page documents will not open. I get this message: You need a newer version of Pages to open this document. I have the newest version and it has been opening these documents just fine previously

Sounds like you have both Pages 5 and Pages '09 on your Mac and are alternately opening them.
When Pages 5 was installed, your iWork '09 software was moved to your Applications/iWork folder.
Pages '09 can not open Pages 5 .pages files.
Don't toss Pages '09 however as it has vastly more features and is less buggy than Pages 5.

I do see that I have an older version of pages in my iWorks folder and I also have installed pages 5.2.2, but I still get the error message "You need a newer version of Pages to open this document." When I open my document in finder and click on get information I try both versions to open my document, but neither will work. What should I do?
