Mac Mini update AppleID is incorrect, can i change it to mine, not my wife's?

I have a Mac Mini and every time I update apps and install etc. it asks for my wife's AppleID to install the updates. I set myself up as the first and master account, how can I rectify, this is seriously frustrating.
