paperport

I am former PC user. The program that I used all the time was a program called paper port by a company called Nuiance. Formerly called scansoft.
This program did a great job of catagorizing and organizing my scaned in paper doucments to electronic format. I have a few questions re this??

1) Does anyone know of a mac progran that was really good for document mangament??? Or should I just use finder

2) The format that this program used to scan documents into was a .max file extension. Bascially this company had their own version of a PDF file. THe newer version converted to a PDF now I have a lot of old files witht the .max extension that I can't open. Do you know of any program out there that will open my .max program??

It appears that the same company produces OmniPage for Mac : http://www.nuance.com/omnipage/mac/ . Maybe you could visit their Support page and see if they can give you any specific help. There were Paperport editions for Mac up to 5.5, so normally there may lay a workaround for what you want.

Otherwise there are the famous ReadIris and VueScan (but I don't know if they can open these old files): http://www.irislink.com/c2-73/Readiris-Pro-11-for-Mac-OCR-software.aspx and http://www.hamrick.com/vsm.html

You might enjoy the PDF management program called Kip:

Also, if you're looking for a very speedy scanner (like the Visioneer Paperport), it looks like Fujitsu makes on called the ScanSnap fi-5110EOXM:
