Difference between 16 bit floating and 32 bit integer audio format?

Hi(Bonjour)!

I captured some DV footage yesterday, and FCE HD 3.5 gave me a warning that audio format of footage does not match my sequence settings.

My camcorder is set to 48Mhz for audio, my easy setings is DV NTSC (and item properties for sequences are 48 Mhz-32 bit integer).

My captured clip return 48 Mhz-16 bit floating point for audio with item properties.

Despite the warning, audio is "in sync" in my master clip (24 minutes long).

I can't find any place where I could set the 16 bit vs 32 bit setings.

How can I manage this issue?

Hi(Bonjour) Tom,

Here's the scenario:

1) Movie shooted with my FX1, in DV native format (no downconversion on capture), audio set to 48 Khz.

2) My camcorder is connected (front firewire port to my G5 (10.4.7, 4.5 meg RAM,Quicktime 7.1, laCie firewire 800 on rear port).

3) Open FCE HD 3.5, start a new project, set easy seting to "DV NTSC".

4) I do a"Capture now" for the whole movie (24 minutes long) without problem (as usual).

5) At the end of capture, I got the warning that there is a difference between audio format from my captured clip, and my sequence setings, and that there is a possibility of "un-syncing problem". I click OK and go on.

6) Despite the warning, all material and sequences are "in sync", no problem at all.

7) When I use item properties in browser, I get:
**for sequences : audio format 48 Khz, 32 bit floating (I know that's the way FCE handles audio for better quality)

**for captured clip: audio format 48 Khz, 16 bit integer (the way that DV device handles audio, as mentionned in user manual).

So it's not realy a problem, but it's the first time that I get this warning, and the first time I capture DV shooted material with FCE 3.5 .
