Hi Shldr2thewheel,

The app has never been called iMessages.

iMessages is just an Account you can register on an iPhone or the Mac version of Messages.

Messages appears, in place of iChat, in Mountain Lion with a major interface change and the inclusion of the iMessage account.

Hi,

If you have one in System Preferences > Users and Groups log in to another Mac User account and (Or create a Test account specifically) set up Messages there with at least the iMessages account.

Does it work in this Mac User account ?

Hi,

Not for some errors.

IF the iMessages login does not work in Any Mac user account then try this.

In the Apple Icon Menu > About this Mac is the Serial Number showing ?

This panel is different in Yosemite and you don't have to click the current OS level line twice.

If the serial number is Missing then you will have to visit an Apple Store with the computer to have them put it back.

Hi,

In System Preferences is the Date and time Set including the Automatic Server and Time Zone ?

Also in the Network pane > Advanced Button > DNS tab dos it show IP Addresses that are not your Router (See the TCP/IP tab) ?
