I am unable to access incoming messages from Verizon because of a change they made recently. It seems they can no longer handle Apple mail. Is this true?
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)
Our 2 computers both use Apple Mail with Verizon without problems. When Verizon made the change, I had a lot of problems implementing it, but was able to do so. I ended up on the telephone with their mail support to fix the last account.
Verizon Mail
in - pop.verizon.net SSL enabled port 995 password
out - smtp.verizon.net SSL enabled port 465
I called Verizon and the person I spoke to told me to call Apple, but I think I will call Verizon again. The Apple Mail Preferences doesn't allow me to make both port changes.

Yes it does, but you make the changes to the SMTP port in the Outgoing Server drop down box, located in a Preferences>Accounts
Click "Edit SMTP Server list"
