Where can I find the Lock Unlock Button in I Pad Air
iPad, iOS 7.0.4
I have two new iPads. One a mini, has a Smart Cover in place that works, but shows no Setting switch option anywhere.
The other, an iPad 5, also doesn't show any setting but doesn't have a cover yet, so presumably that's expected, but the other one should have an option showing but doesn't. I don't get it? Is this something to do with the newest update to iOS 10?
Settings > General > Lock / Unlock
Hi,
You may want to try this: Go into Settings, Tap General, Tap the switch for Lock/Unlock (it says 'Automatically lock and unlock your iPad when you close and open the iPad cover').
Hope this helps! 🙂
I can not find under Restriction the Lock Unloack Button!!!
There is no Lock Unlock Button, this is why I am asking:)
Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
The setting will not show up until you have the cover installed on the iPad.
In addition, the setting will only show if the iPad has detected a correctly installed magnet which is embedded in a certain location on the case. If you are using a third-party or "knock-off"/copy case, it may not have the magnet and it may not be correctly positioned to trigger the setting.
The Settings > General > Unlock / Lock setting shows up on my iPad whether the case is on or off.
I don't have a case or cover on my Retina Mini and there is no setting like this on mine.

Once the iPad detects that a SmartCover/Case with the magnet in the proper place embedded within the case has been used, the setting will appear. Otherwise, the setting will not be there.
Yes, I am aware of that as I posted above. Someone above is saying they have the setting with no cover in place.
The cover doesn't have to be on the iPad at all. Once a compatible case/cover with required magnet is installed, the setting will remain on the iPad, even if that case/cover is removed.
Hi rossfrombunyan. In iOS 10, the Lock/Unlock setting is in Settings > Display & Brightness. As discussed above, it may not appear if the iPad has never detected a smart cover.
Thanks, Diana,
I found it there on the mini. Now I just have to wait for the cover to arrive for the iPad 5. :-)
