Mail has repeating messages...help!

I noticed after doing a clean install my Mail that was being imported had 15,000 messages to import.

I had noticed previously that when a message was either sent, or deleted it would repeat in other folders such

as Sent, Junk and Archive. What can I do to stop this. No wonder I have 15,000 messages. Some of them repeat

20 times!

Help!
