Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You have downloaded OS X 10.9.1 from the Apple website, and that's an OS X 10.9 update.
Instead, you need to open the Mac App Store and download OS X Mavericks from there. Make a backup of your files with Time Machine and check that your apps are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com
When the download finishes, the OS X Mavericks installer will appear, so follow the steps. You will have OS X 10.9.1 after upgrading
You downloaded the update
The update requies that Mavericks be installed so that it can be updated
You get Mavericks from the App Store

I did download this from the app store and ive tried it again and again and tried googling 10.9.0 but cant find it anywhere and the app store only offers 10.9.1 so im lost.
Click this link > https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/os-x-mavericks/id675248567?mt=12 Then, press "View in Mac App Store", and download OS X Mavericks.
When the OS X Mavericks download finishes, the OS X Mavericks installer will appear, so follow its steps.
Do not worry if you see that it includes OS X 10.9.1. Apple updated the OS X Mavericks installer to include it
