Q: Mac OS X 10.9.1 Mail 7.1 doesn't show gmail messages (empty content)

Hello everyone,

Just switched to Maverick, installed 10.9.1 which is said to fix gmail issue, and yet gmail messages are not displayed (don't know if it was that issue or this is a new one). Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks,

Alexander

This doesn't work for me. But my problem is a bit deeper. Here's the summary:

My problems with Gmail and MacMail talking with each other only exist on my new MacBook Air (purchased Jan 2014). I only get maybe 75% of my Gmail messages. I am using an iPhone4 and a 2010 MacBook Pro – both of which get ALL my Gmail messages. To further complicate things, when I go into gmail.com and resend a message using my gmail address, it will most likely end up on my MacBook Air.

I've tried the disable/enable thing, no luck.

I don't know if this is just on Gmail and Mac to sort out, or if there's something else I can try?

    FOUND A SOLUTION:

    1. Log into Gmail via a browser
    2. Go to "Settings" in the cog icon drop-down in the upper-right corner
    3. Select the "Inbox" tab
    4. Under "Categories" uncheck all boxes except for "Primary"
    5. Click Save Changes
    6. Go to Mail app, select your Gmail account
    7. Go to the "Mailbox" menu, and select "Rebuild" at the bottom of the drop-down menu

mrsazr - this is how I fixed the problem, by completely deleting gmail, and re-entering as a google account.  Thanks

Thanks so much James Coley! That works great. Still stinks that ya have to do that every week or so, but at least there's a really easy work around until they're able to get this resolved once and for all!! Thanks!!!

I'm having a perplexing variant of this problem. It only occurred in the last day or so.

I cannot get gmail on either my Mac or my iPhone - I can get webmail, and Google's official iPhone app works, too, but Apple Mail, Sparrow, Mailbox, or Mail on the iPhone simply don't work.

I don't get any error messages on my Mac- I just don't get any mail. On Sparrow, the uploading symbol continues to spin, but that's about it. On the iPhone in Apple's Mail app, I get an error saying that "imap.gmail.com" is not responding and that I should verify the account settings. If I then delete the account and try again I get an error message about not being able to connect using SSL.

My secretary just checked the account using Outlook and got the following error message while Outlook was trying to sync the in-box.

    error in folder "inbox" [800DF00-0-0-733]

    Terminated in error [800DF00-0-0-733]

In addition, I tried to do some of the suggestions above, but options like "Rebuild" are greyed out on my Mac for this account.
