re-install OS X Lion from App Store

Hi,

the hard-drive on my older laptop failed. It was running Lion and unfortunately I had not made a bootable disc, although it was safely backed up with Time Machine.

In addition I have purchases of Mountain Lion and Mavericks on the App store but this computer is too old to run either. Lion does appear under Purchases.

I can't however download it. The rotating wheel just turns for a bit and then stops.

I am using the laptop now (with Snow lion). It is fine. It won't however let me reinstall my account from time machine as the OS is earlier.

Is there a way to install Lion so I can re-install the time machine backup ?
