Q: Pairing iPad Air via Bluetooth

I own 2 iPad air (wifi-only).  I want to pair them via bluetooth so that I can use Airdrop to share videos.  I have wifi connection but they can't seem to find each other even though they are right next to each other. Do I need cellular  plan to use bluetooth?

    Impossible.

As this article indicates, AirDrop requires a fourth generation iPad or iPad Mini.

UPDATE - Sorry, I misread your post as saying you had an iPad 2.  You can use AirDrop with iPad Air.  See the article.

No, you do not need a cellular plan to use Bluetooth.  Bluetooth is available on WiFi only iPad Air.

Just use AirDrop.  Don't worry about the Bluetooth.  AirDrop should take care of the WiFi - Bluetooth setup itself.

I mean do not worry about doing the explicit Bluetooth pairing.

First, on each iPad, make sure that Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are on and both iPads are awake.

Make sure Airdrop is set to Everyone on both iPads. This can be done by tapping on airdrop in the control panel.

That's all you need to do. Select the video you want to transfer, select the Share icon and tap on airdrop. Wait until the other iPad shows up then send. You need to Accept the video on the second iPad.
