Hi I downloaded 10.6.8 combo from apple.
When trying to install it got this error message :
Mac Osx server update combined can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update.
Please help me sort this out ... PS ...I am not a programmer

Yes it's the upgrade from 10.6.3 to 10.6.8
Your original post suggests you're trying to install the "Server" version of OS X and it won't work on your machine.
Use the download from the link I posted.
I'm wondering if you have found the SERVER Combo update, which is not applicable to your machine. You will need the one Kirk mentioned in his post. Then you will need to go to Systems Prefs and Software update because there are at least 3 updates that I believe are not included in the Combo, dealing with iTunes and security.
Hi seventy one I will try that then ... But it was suggested as an option to overcome each download... Are you saying I need to download each upgrade until I get to 10.6.8 ?
The three to follow Kirk's suggestion are UPDATES, not upgrades. Similarly, the Combo update (which is a big one and takes time) is an update. Just in case you are unaware of the difference, an upgrade relates to a whole OS X, like Snow Leopard, Lion and so on.

When I go to Kirks link it offers me a download. Just in case there is something odd going on, this is the link from my file that I usually provide.

Also I tried to see if 10.6.3 has an update download but Apple has archived it !!!
So looks like I am stuck with obsolete system and can't update it.
Nice one Apple !!! 20 years of support and you force upgrading onto your clients ...
I'm stymied by this one. Have you checked your downloads folder (Desk top sidebar). I just started the download from the link I gave you and it began to download. I had to stop it. I can't see Apple not having this available. For the moment it is an essential while so many people are changing OS's.
