Pages and Numbers print gray dots throughout entire doc
When printing from Pages (v 5.0.1) and Numbers (v 3.0.1), there are tiny gray dots all over the page. How do I get rid of these?

Does they appear when you print from other applications too?
No. It is only like this in Pages and Numbers.
That is weird. I wonder if it could be that the printer driver doesn't play well with Pages 5 and Numbers 3
I thought the same thing, but everyone else in the office, that has the same computer and versions of pages and numbers as I do, doesn't have this problem. Normally, I wouldn't really care, but I use Pages to print labels and when I only print a few at a time, I like to save the rest and use them later. Since Pages is printing those dots, the paper goes from white to dark gray after 2 uses...
The same for all documents in Pages or just the one?
What happens when you print from TextEdit?
Peter
I have the same problem with Pages 5. It doesn't show dots on screen or when I choose "Open PDF in Preview" from the Print dialog box, but when I print they still appear.
It also happens with the updated versions of Mail, Numbers and Keynote but not with Pages 09, etc, nor with TextEdit or Preview (unless I exported the document as a PDF from Pages or Numbers).
It is infuriating.
Can you give us something to test?
A series of documents and settings to try and reproduce the problem.
Let's start with what printer and printer driver you are using.
Peter
Thanks for the quick reply.
I'm using a Kyocera FS-1300D printer with the latest driver "Kyocera OS X 10.5+ Web build 2011.08.09.mpkg".
And using Pages 5.2 (1860).
Any old template?
Any old settings?
Peter
Seems to be any template, no special settings.
Well then I don't get what you get.
I have several laser printers, I don't use ink jets.
I have 2 Brothers and 2 Fuji Xerox laser printers, one of which is a 4 colour.
I'd zero in on the core issue for you which is your printer and your printer driver. Which means going back to Kyocera's website and seeing what support updates you can get.
Peter
Thanks Peter, I think you're right that it's the driver. I've just set up my printer in the Printers & Scanners section of System Preferences with the Generic PCL driver software, and guess what? No more dots.
It means I lose some of the function, but at least it looks better and I'm saving on ink.
Thanks for your help.
