I just reinstalled, after deleting all of my presets and it opened fine. I closed it, then put all my presets back in the user/Application Support/Compressor folder and it won't open again. It appears as if it doesn't like any presets you made with version 4.0. If that's the case, then this update is ****! I do TV spots, and upload to about 20 different stations. They all have their own formats, which I made presets for. I'm not going through this again, like I had to from version 3 to 4!

If anyone finds a work around, please let me know. I prefer Compressor to Media Encoder, but if I have to switch I will. As well as returing the $8K Mac Pro I just ordered!!!

I guess it's time to move the legacy software and projects to a dedicated computer...

Maybe that's the best strategy. (For example, I have FCS3 "frozen in time" on 10.6.8. (Hopefully, I can depend on it for several more years.)

OTH, I have also successfully run C 3.5 on Mavericks. If you don't want a two system approach, try uninstalling C3.5 and Qmaster with FCS Remover and reinstalling from the disks.

Hey guys, I have found what causes the compressor crash. 🙂

Actually I’m not fan of programs de-installations and re-installations, since I have gain bad experiences the previous years. I’ve just read the instructions of Compressor troubleshooting step by step http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3894 .

Then I download the ProApps codes of Quicktime from here http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1396 and then magically the compressor operates normally. Check it out guys!!!
