Q: Late 2013 15' MBPR Win 7 Blue Screens on WPA2 Enterprise Network

I am a student at Georgia Tech,

When I connect to our WPA2 Enterprise school network, 'GTWifi" - http://www.lawn.gatech.edu/help/gtwifi/ , my laptop 'Blue Screens of Death.'

This only happens when I'm on the Windows 7 Bootcamp side, connects fine with OSX side.

I can connect to my personal home network fine, and other friends networks no problem.

It's just the GT one that gives me problems.

Anyone else experience something similar?

Sam

This sounds more like a Windows issue than a hardware problem.  It could be the wireless card driver, but I would imagine it is something related to Windows.  Have you tried connecting to the network from the Mac partition?  If that works, I would recommend trying to reinstall Windows 7.

    Reinstall Windows was no help.

I agree with you in that the driver is probably the culprit, the driver that I installed through bootcamp.

Lots of other laptops connect fine to this network, so I don't think its a 'Windows' issue, I think it's specific to the Macbook or maybe just this Macbook.

So can you connect to the network when you are running on your Mac operating system?

If that's the case it's definitely a software problem in Windows.  It could be a driver, or it could be a software problem.  When you reinstalled Windows did you completely reinstall or did you just reinstall and keep all of your settings?

This is probably a really stupid question, but after Windows was installed and running, did you go to Control Panel >> Windows Update to see if they have a driver update for your wireless card?

Tjohns, yea I updated the entire windows suite several times.  I got service pack one installed, and basically kept updating until it told me there were not any more available.

I see.  So if your Mac can connect, then it is not an issue with the laptop hardware.  It has to be a Windows setting, and my guess would still be the driver.  You can try and figure out exactly what wireless card is in your system (using System Profiler) and go to the vendors website and look for the correct driver and try to install using that method.  (My 15" Retina has a Broadcom card in it, but I don't know if that is the case for all models.)

I'm sorry I'm not more help, but the only other thing that I could think of would be to re-download the Windows Support drivers for your system through the Boot Camp Assistant.  Otherwise, it may be time to get on the phone with AppleCare and/or Microsoft to try and get to the bottom of it.
