it says "Pages cannot be opened because of a problem." It says to make sure the program is fit for the operating system which it is. This has happened with two different brand new install CD's. I've uninstalled and reinstalled both CD's multiple time to no avail. Help!
What CD's are those? iWork CD's?
If so it could be that you haven't updated iWork after the installation. Here is a link to download the latest update for iWork 09 http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1563
Ok - that seems to have gotten me one step closer. Now Pages will open but I can't open any documents or create a new one. The Pages menu bar is open but I can't make use of the program. Any more ideas?
So what version of iWork '09 do you have now?
Perhaps it is now in demo mode. Did you give it your serial number?

Restart the computer in Safe mode. You do that by when restarting hearing the first chime press the Shift key and keep it pressed untill you see a bar emrging. This might take a little while. Log in, try Pages. Log out and start the computer the normal way.
The restart in safe mode didn't work.
The version is iWork '09 version 4.3 (1048). It never asked me for a serial number.
How have you installed it?

Can't open a template from template chooser and cannot open any of my documents previously created in Pages. When I try it says The document "..." couldn't be opened. When I try to open a new template the template chooser is blank. There is both nothing to choose from and nothing happens when I click the choose button.
Sounds like it is hosed.
Have you tried opening it from another User account?

No. I don't actually know what that means. There is only one user on this computer currently.
You create another User in System Preferences then switch to it to see if the problem goes away.

Ok - just created a new user and tried to open pages and the same thing happened. I got a blank window in template chooser and wasn't able to create a new document.
