Is there a way to hide the notes in Contacts?

I use the Contacts on my MacBook Pro and iphone 5C. Is there a way to hide the 'notes' section of contacts on my iphone so it is not visible to others? Also, if I share a contact with someone else can it be sent without the notes section (meaning it will only share the phone number and address)?

Thank you, in advance, for any help!

Thanks for your response.

In my Contacts, for some people, I have information in the 'Notes' section that might have details regarding their family members, life events (marriages, divorces etc) or maybe what I pay people for certain services; these are things I may not want others to be able to freely access or see if they are using my phone. So I wanted to see if I can 'hide' this section so that only I have access to see it.

Hope that is more clear.

Thanks.

You're upset because you can't hide the Notes on your personal iPhone... even though you can put a passcode lock on the device so no one but you can read ANYTHING on the device?

That's... hilarious, actually.

To hide your private confidential information on your iPhone, put a passcode lock on it.

Or, gee, I don't know, use Google. It took me ten seconds to find this:

This thread was about hiding notes in the Contact App, not editing them. Your issue is totally different from the OP's.

Basic Troubleshooting Steps when all else fails

- Quit the App by opening multi-tasking bar, and swiping the App upward to make it disappear. (For iOS 6, holding down the icon for the App for about 3-5 seconds, and then tap the red circle with the white minus sign.)

- Relaunch the App and try again.
- Restart the device. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

- Reset the device. (Same article as above.)

- Reset All Settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings)

- Restore from backup. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 (If you don't have a backup, make one now, then skip to the next step.)

- Restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
For this step, do not re-download ANYTHING, and do not sign into your Apple ID.

- Test the issue after each step. If the last one does not resolve the issue, it is likely a hardware problem.

No idea what I'll buy instead but I won't be giving another £600 to Apple for the privilege of not being able to do something so basic. At worst I'll give £300 to someone else and not be able to do it.

Suit yourself. I don't work for Apple so it doesn't matter to me what you buy. Do better research than you did with the iPhone so you don't end up with another phone that doesn't do what you want.

Um, you can't edit your previous Notes in the iOS Notes app? That's odd, because I have no problem doing that.

Are you sure you're doing it right?

Are you in Europe?

Do you need an adaptor?

And you didn't have a Apple Support Community Account until yesterday, as shown on your profile. You may have had an Apple ID. But you had to actually create a USERNAME for this forum. Your Apple ID isn't automatically your username for this forum. You have to set that up when you first use your Apple ID here.... in other words, when you set up your account for this forum.

And like I said, if you want a Notes app you can LOCK... Google it. I found the one I linked in ten seconds, mate.

Yes because obviously everyone who buys a phone checks whether you can edit the notes against a contact before they buy it.

I did a reasonable amount of research but it was on the usual things people assess. To be honest with a £600 phone it didn't occur to me that something so basic would be impossible.

I had an apple account, the 2 seconds it took me to create a forum username were not exactly a chore.

Re the issue, perhaps you want to read the thread so that you know what the issue is, rather than talking about something completely different.

We are talking about the notes field on contacts, not having a separate notes app you can lock, which everyone knows are readily available. Keep up at the back.

Go to the Contacts app.

Tap on the Contact.

Tap on Edit.

Go down to the Notes section and tap on it.

Add a Note.

Tap on Done.

Close the Contacts app.

Open the Contacts app.

Tap on the Contact.

Tap on Edit.

Go down to the Notes section where you made the previous note and tap on it.

Use the keyboard to backspace and type, and your finger to move the cursor if needed.

Tap on Done.

You've now created and edited a note for that Contact.

Voilà!!
