QuickTime MPeg 2 doesn't work and my order number isn't recognised

Can anyone shed any light on this problem?

I have a Mac running 10.5.8. I need to import .MTS files into Final Cut Studio Pro HD 6.0.6 so I downloaded Mpeg Streamclip.

I needed QuickTimeMPEG2 to import the files into Mpeg Streamclip so I bought and paid for this from Apple, Whilst the files are no longer grayed out, they still aren't recognised however.

I have been attempting to get a refund from Apple but when I cut and paste the order number into the box called 'single order lookup' I get the message 'The information you entered does not match our records. Please try again'

Does anyone know how to get the software to work or, failing that, how to get a refund?

Thanks

I'm completely confused with why you are fussing with QTMPEG-2 and MPEG Streamclip if you are ingesting to FCP6... You should be able to do this easily using Log and Transfer if you have the proper card images. Please post more info on your workflow.

As for refunds, I have extensive experience with giving money to Apple, but none whatsoever with getting money back from Apple. Sorry...

Thanks RatVega

I open up FCP 6.0.6 and launch the log and transfer window and go to the gear image in the top right hand corner. and click on custom path. The card reader is mounted on the desktop and the path is card reader/Private/AVCHD/BDMV/STREAM the files there are called 00000.MTS 00001.MTS etc.

I've also tried saving the project file before attempting to import the film files in case that helped but no difference. And mounting the card reader before/after launching FCP but no help either

I succeeded in using the log and transer window with a memory card from the same camera on a previous occasion and the files just mounted in the Log and Transfer Window with no problems so no idea why it won't do so this time

I have to confess I don't use log and transfer much as I've got an old camcorder which still uses mini dv tapes and .mov files - so perhaps I've forgotten some vital step?

I googled the problem and a whole bunch of people were moaning about these files not always opening and recommending MPegStreamclip (which has to be used with QTMpeg2) they might have been relatives of the MPegStreamclip designer of course earning him a bit of extra cash for Christmas - ha ha.

Same confession here... That's why I was tentative anout my solution. My exposure to .MTS footage is limited and L&T has worked so well for me that I was not aware that there was an alternative. But no, you haven't forgotten a thing.

My guess is that Log and Transfer is more dependent on card image structure than MPEG Streamclip. I think using Disk Utility to make disk (card) images is probably the best bet.

Jayne is an interesting name from my past... please tell me you didn't grow up in Washington. LOL
