I would like to change my POP mail account to an IMAP account but Maverick is making it difficult. Anyone have any ideas?
iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1), Mail account is with Windstream
I believe you won't be able to modify an existing account. So you would have to create a new email account and set it as IMAP. Provided the email account supports IMAP.
I have tried to create a new account but the latest version of Mac Mail attempts to help you. Since I already have a POP account with my carrier, each time I try to create a new account mail assumes I want a new POP account and creates that type of account. It does not give me the opportunity to input the options I want.
If you hold down the Option key while continuing through setting up the Mail account it should allow you to manually input the settings rather than using the default ones.
This helped and got me to where I needed to be but when I hit create I got an error message which stopped the whole process. Thanks for the assistance!
