I have just installed my sim into an iphone 4s how do I pick up my contacts from the sim as they have not synced?
How do I pick up my contacts from a newly inserted SIM card to an iphone 4s?

Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Scroll Down. Tap "Import SIM Contacts".
This assumes there are actually contacts on the SIM. iPhones do not store anything at all on the SIM, so if the SIM came from another iPhone, that's not where the contacts are.
