Using wifi controller apps via internet sharing

Hi,

I'm using internet sharing to feed wifi to my iDevices instead of using a standard router. What I can't figure out, is how to get apps like Logic Remote, ProCutX, and other controller apps that use wifi to communicate with my system to work. They simply do not see my computer. Is there a way to set this up where I can use my computer as a wifi hotspot without losing the functionality of my controller apps?

Thanks!

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X Mavericks (10.9)
