Q: TextEdit will NOT show up in Spotlight

I have TextEdit, and I got it with my MacBook Air, and ever since I got it, TextEdit ALWAYS showed up in Spotlight. I could just type in "t" because I use it so often. Now, It will not appear in spotlight, at all. No matter what I type. In order for Spotlight to even open up anything related to textedit, I would have to type in the name of a document. But it still exists in applications, and opens when I click on a rtf. etc. document. And yes, I do have caps lock, etc it's normal except for Spotlight, and I tried typing textedit in many differnt "ways". I have not fiddled with the settings either. (Sorry for so much sentences I am just trying to narrow the possibilities down.

I hope someone can help, thanks.

    Hey EnhancedPineapple,

Thanks for the question. Let’s try re-indexing spotlight. You can attempt to re-index just the applications folder (where TextEdit lies), or your entire hard drive:

    Thanks,

When ever this page asks me to add the folder or entire disk to this privacy , I am able to add the folder, but it does not even add privacy to the folder, as I can still search photobooth when the entire folder is in privacy, but not text edit or another application. So wen I take the applications folder out, nothing changes, I still can't find what I want. And every now and then I can search what I want, but the next day I cannot.

Actually, I restarted my computer after a while, and clicked on spotlight, and at the bottom it sayd "Re-indexing". So I guess it worked matt00, thanks. Now everything shows up perfectly in spotlight. Thanks!

I also believe, that memory has a part in this, due to the fact every week I delete most of my work from the past week, and spotlight works just fine. I can find things I have just downloaded, work I have just saved, most recent items, and applications. But when I get to the point where the disk is full, I start having problems, I need to use launch pad opening applications, I cannot search for items that I have had for less than a month, I cannot use finder to find the things I need, and other problems. I have found ways to get around this, but still, I can never find exactly what I am looking for. Thanks for all of the support matt.
