i was looking into buying a mac mini and i was wondering if you can use a magic trackpad and wireless keyboard on first setup after buying the mac mini

Yes, they should work. It wold be nice to have wired backup if necessary. You can use USB PC mice and keyboards

I have:
Magic Mouse (BlueTooth)
Logitech TrackPad (BlueTooth)
Logitech Wireless Keyboard (USB receiver)
Apple extended Keyboard (Wired USB)
ALL connected.
I recommend the Logitech trackPad because it has in internal battery and you can still use it while it charges via USB.
Logitech has a "solar" keyboard I recommend too. It charges in sunlight, or under a desktop lamp.
I hate buying and replacing batteries, and other than the Magic Mouse, which uses NiMH rechargeables, I don't have to.
