safari freezes when I use "find"

When I try to use "find" to locate something on a webpage the page freezes. I can't scroll, refresh or go back. If there are other tabs open, they work properly, it's only the page where I attempted to use find.

I'm using Safari 6.1 on a macbook lion.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

I have this problem, too. For me, it occurs when using the "find" feature after using the "zoom" gesture sometime during the same session. (Although I have been a happy user of Safari for a decade, this new behavior has driven me to switch to Firefox until it gets fixed.)
