iTunes stuck processing file

Has anyone else had this issue recently? I am using the latest iTunes x64 on Windows 7 x64. When app updates download from the iTunes store, it freezes when it gets to where it says "processing file" and never completes. I tried using Ccleaner to clean empty junk off my compluter, ran a full disk defrag, and tried running iTunes as anmid, with the antivirus turned off, and the firewall turned off, but alas, it still keeps doing the same thing. I tried chancing allowing multiple downloads at once or only 1 at a time. I tried pausing and unpausing. I tried clearing the store cache. I keep having to cntrl+alt+delete and kill iTunes. No hardware or software has been installed lately to chance anything on my PC. Yet, it keeps doing the same thing. I plan on trying to reinstall iTunes and see if that helps. Anyone else noticing the same issue? Any solutions known that work?

If your getting stuck in processing, the issue is with the cahce file on windows. If the issue is downloading and freeing it could be ISP related, firewall, AV and or router. I have 110 down 30 up late late at night and its taking four hours to download a movie. Yet, I download a 30 gig file from blizzard entergtainment in 45 minutes and had world of warcraft running within one hour. The major issue is they don't add equipment fast enough. Also g-d forbid they shut down the servers to do rolling restarts.

I am currently having the same problem as everyone here. I tried so many times to log off and log in, install and uninstall iTunes, followed ParrishCo's suggestion with regards to deleting the "Download" folder but still ended up with the same problem. For a moment after deleting the "Download" folder and rebooting, it worked. However, after 2 or 3 downloads of songs, it went back to the same problem - frozen on the "processing file." Are there other solutions out there? Been at it for over 3 hours now.

I haven't found a solution yet. And I've been looking for many hours now... 😮
The "delete the /download folder or what is in there" thing is just a lucky coincidence I guess.
It does seem to work occasionally, but IMHO that's more due to the full reboot.

Worse, if I force iTunes to stop, I cannot fire it up again without a computer reboot, so all in all it's a tedious problem.

I am having the same issue and I came to this forum to research it. It appears this issue, or at least a similar issue, has been reported going back as far as 2012. I was glad to see someone else besides me has reported experiencing this as recently as today. I did not have this problem as recently as a week ago. I did update to OSX 10.9.1 this past week, but have no idea if this has any correlation. I have been plagued with performance issues ever since installing Mavericks!

Same here. Tried clearing the temp files, force quite and reboots but the fixes only seem to work temporarily. Hopefully they will get this issue fixed shortly. Can't be asked to re-install iTunes etc as it seems it's (yet another) glitch their end.

May be just coincidence but with the combination of Mavericks and IOS7 I'm having more and more problems to such an extent that the motiviation to continue paying the Apple premium is starting to wear thin!!!

Ok, I don't know how many people this is going to help, because my application seems to be a lot simpler than most of the ones described here, but this is what I've experienced.

I downloaded iTunes for the very first time onto my Windows machine the other day. All I've downloaded via iTunes are individual songs. The very first one got stuck in processing. I ignored it a) because I could play the song, and b) I could continue to download other songs. I downloaded several more, and another got stuck in processing.

I wanted to see what I could do to resolve it, so I closed iTunes and re-booted. Immediately afterwards, I decided to test things by making a playlist out of the downloads, and burning a CD. When I went to add the songs that had been hung in processing, I got a msg about it needing to download them from the Cloud (although thay were obviously listed with the other songs) - ok, fine. Everything worked perfectly, and when I went to the iTunes store, the songs I had downloaded all said "Play", whereas, before the ones that were stuck in processing had said "Downloading".

Ok, so I downloaded a few more, with the second getting stuck in processing. So, without closing iTunes, I tried to make a playlist, and burn a CD. Again, when I went to add the stuck song, it offered to load it from the Cloud, which it did. But when I tried to burn a CD, it said it could only burn songs that were on my hardrive to the CD. (?) So, I closed iTunes, and killed the task via Taskmanager so I didn't have to reboot. I re-started iTunes, and deleted and re-made the 2nd playlist, and the CD burned without a problem. Again, the song that was hung in processing displayed the "Play" button (as it should have), rather than the "Downloading".

And, yes, all 3 songs that got stuck in processing were, and *still are*, listed in the iTunes Download folder, but at this point, I don't see any consequence to that, or any evidence that any of the songs ever got stuck in processing.

Hope this helps someone, and maybe you guys with bigger issues can use the info to narrow down your search for answers.
