iTunes stuck processing file

Has anyone else had this issue recently? I am using the latest iTunes x64 on Windows 7 x64. When app updates download from the iTunes store, it freezes when it gets to where it says "processing file" and never completes. I tried using Ccleaner to clean empty junk off my compluter, ran a full disk defrag, and tried running iTunes as anmid, with the antivirus turned off, and the firewall turned off, but alas, it still keeps doing the same thing. I tried chancing allowing multiple downloads at once or only 1 at a time. I tried pausing and unpausing. I tried clearing the store cache. I keep having to cntrl+alt+delete and kill iTunes. No hardware or software has been installed lately to chance anything on my PC. Yet, it keeps doing the same thing. I plan on trying to reinstall iTunes and see if that helps. Anyone else noticing the same issue? Any solutions known that work?

Believe me or not...:

My home-network is connected to the internet over

1) A FritzBox ADSL-router (8 Mps)

2) An Airport Extreme to a fiber-link (100 Mbps)

Since a couple of weeks I noticed this situation:

When my MacBook Pro is using the ADSL-link I have no problems at all, when using the fiberoptics-link my App-updates fail after downloading, stuck while 'processing file'... Rocksolid and reproducable situation...

After deleting the 'iTunes/Mobile Applications/Download' folder AND creating a new one, the problems are gone.

Thanks for the tip!

I'm having the same issue. I've been trying to download app updates. When I select "update all," I might two, one, or no updates through before the download process hangs up on "processing file," and I have to force iTunes to stop running. Like you, I have to either log off or reboot before iTunes will even restart. As this is happening on both Windows and Mac OS alike, my guess is that the iTunes store is experiencing severe latency issues due to high user demand on the servers, causing them to time out. The fact that we must reboot to get iTunes to restart indicates that the transaction between end user and server is being interrupted. We can only hope that Apple is actually reading these forums and takes action.

I've been having this problem with "processing" for a few days now. Right now I have like 80 apps to update. They're building up. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and everything else the Apple Help Center told me to uninstall. Cleaned the computer. Rebooted many times. If I'm lucky then 1 or 2 apps get through then it gets to three that freeze and stops the whole process of updating. I've been having trouble a lot with the new iTunes version update.

1. Exit iTunes (if not possible, force-kill it in task manager, Ctrl-Alt-Del > Task Manager, right click on iTunes and select "End task").

2. Delete every folder in this directory:

OS X:
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/DownloadsNote: The tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.Windows Vista:
\Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\

Windows 7:

\Users\username\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\

Windows XP:

\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\

3. Start iTunes and start your downloads again.
