Did you get an email saying it has been unlocked? Sometimes it takes a few days for the unlock to process. If you got the email, did you follow the instructions detailed in the email and restore your phone as new via iTunes after backing it up?

Yes I received an email confirming that the iPhone with the correct IEMI number has been unlocked. I have been trying to unlock this phone now for 2 months, EE says can take up to 20 days to unlock and it didn't do it the first time so now I'm on the 2nd attempt with them and after another 4 weeks of them saying you have to wait up to 20 days they said that it has been unlocked. I have restored it in iTunes with the EE SIM card in it and when I put a working O2 card in it still says that the iPhone is still locked. I rang apple after the first attempt failed and they said they cannot do anything they just bounce the request back to EE. So I do not know what to try next.

Only the carrier can take care of your problem. Apple does not unlock phones. The carrier does. I suggest you go to an EE store and ask to speak to someone who actually knows what they are doing, or ask for your problem to be escalated up the chain.

PS. When you you restore do you get the message: "Congratulations your phone has been unlcoked"?

If not EE has NOT processed the unlock.

I have been in the EE store once before. I've been on the phone with EE who have double confirmed that it has been done, so I guess I'll just keep going around in circles. Cheers for the info anyway.
