Display wont wake-up on Windows 8.1 iMac (ATI HD 5750)

I've just installed windows 8.1 and now I'm having a strange problem: When the display goes into standby I cannot wake it back up, the machine is still awake as I can RDP in..

It appears windows is replacing my good display driver with one that it thinks 'is better' but is infact screwing up my system.. If I roll-back the driver everything works fine until it re-installs the driver for me.

Has anyone else experience this problem or found a fix?

don't let windows replace the video driver

use the bootcamp driver video driver it's not perfect because win8.1 is not official supported

so untill the next bootcamp it will likely not work perfectly

After a bit of messing around its been stable for a while now.. These are the driver details I settled on:

Driver Provider: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.

Driver Date: 27/09/2012

Driver Version: 9.2.0.0

Its been working flawlessly and CUDA is fully supported 🙂

running x64 8.1, this is the driver

http://www2.ati.com/drivers/13-12_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql.exe

but first run the amd clean uninstall utility, restart then install the latest

Before you try new drivers make sure you do the following:

1. Locate your GPU in device manager.

2. Right click

3. Selected un-install driver.

4. Check the 'delete drivers' box.

5. Repeat steps 1-4 until you're left with a simple VGA driver.

I don't know how only the video driver from bootcamp 5.0 works but each time I rebot my iMac windows raplace with his own driver because is newest...

I'm not even sure where my driver has come from 🙂 all I know is after lots of faffing about I found it and it works 😀

I'm pretty sure that you use the old driver from bootcamp 5.0....

I need to find a solution for stop windows to upgrade automatically. This is not a solution but it's the only way for use wondows 8.1 otherwise I will install back Windows 7.
