diagram for metal strip on back of mouse cover?

A metal strip has come off the inside battery cover for my wireless mouse. I've figured out that this strip pushes on a lever which allows the light to operate once the mouse has been turned on. Since the strip is now loose I can't get my mouse to stay on. Is there a technical diagram of the back of the mouse cover so I could see how to reattach this metal strip? We have applecare, so it would be replaced, but I'd rather fix it now. Thank you very much!

the exact same issue happened to me just now. reattachment of the strip looks as though it would be intuitive, but i just can't get it to reattach. any thoughts would be welcome.

Yes, I have figured out exactly how it fits, I have figured out how it makes the mouse work when the cover is on and the button is turned to the "on" position. But, I just can't make it "stick on" to the cover so it works all the time. I don't know if it was glued on, or somehow I'm missing another piece that holds it on. Will call applecare sometime today and post what they tell me so you'll have the info, too.

I don't think it's glued to begin with. Mine came undone after a couple of years. I put the little metal strip on the cover and put a small drop of epoxy glue on the two little pins. As you know, it's important for the metal piece to lay as flat as possible to the cover, so that's why I didn't put any glue underneath. That held for a while, but just recently that pulled loose, too. Unfortunately, I made a real mess trying to repair the repair, so I'm without a mouse right now.

I'd be most interested in what they say. Even if I could just buy the cover separately, I'd do that. I've actually switched to using a tablet, but there are certain times when a mouse would still be good to have.

Alistair at applecare said that it's his understanding that you can't buy just a mouse cover. (That's a shame, because it would have saved apple money in this case, as mine is under warranty. It would have saved you two money, since you have to replace the mouse.) A new mouse is on the way for me. If this happens again after warranty ends I'll follow Charles' suggestion. Then I would probably check online at ebay and at used computer stores for a mouse cover. This new mouse would have cost me $59 were it not for applecare. We've gone through a wireless keyboard, too, so between the mouse and the keyboard, applecare paid for itself. Not to mention the harddrive that had to be replaced.
