Mavericks deletes ALL of my Contacts!

I opened Contacts this morning and there were NO cards! Empty.

I went to SuperDuper backup and the Contacts file was full and correct

but when I restore it to MBP with Mavericks it is immediately emptied - NO cards.

Any idea how to fix this?

I also have an intact Contacts file on a thumb drive, but the instant I try to load the file onto MBP, the file loaded is empty!

Help! Help! This is NOT a trivial issue. Where can I go to get help, at least salvage the file somewhere that is intact and be used?

I am working with SuperDuper also to try to salvage this.

But an intact file on Time Machine/Capsule backup is empty when "restored" to MBP.
