My iPad does not light up.

My iPad does not light up. I know its on because I can hear the tone and can barely see the display with a flashlight. What can I do?

Try reset iPad

Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

Note: Data will not be affected.

My iPad gets real hot on the back and the light went off and now it is dead. I tried to hold the on/off button at the same time as the screen button at bottom but it is still dead.

Try the trouble shooting steps in there particularly after you have charged the device with a known working charger for at least 30 minutes -

If still no response then the next step would be a consideration to visit your nearest Apple store
