IOS devices and Exchange won't connect over Wifi

Some things to try first:

1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

• Launch Settings app

• Tap on Wi-Fi

• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list

• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.

You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

same situation... connected to wifi, I can navigate, whatsapp, imessage. everything works fine BUT app mail can't connect to my enterprise exchange server. It works perfectly over 3G...

hi i am currently facing the same issue. Did you find a resolution?

Me and two of my coworkers have the same issue. They lost connection at the same time which would lead me to believe it is a server problem. However, it is still working on my iPhone (I'm guessing using the cellular data). Any suggestions?

I suddenly started to have the same issue on my iPad and iPhone about three weeks ago. Fine over 3G, but no mail from Exchange over the wifi. Microsoft say they've made no changes and my Telco say they haven't either. So frustrating!!

I am having a similar issue. After upgrading my mac mini and my macbook pro to OS 10.9.5 and upgrading my iphone to a 6+ suddenly today my email accounts that are POP3 accounts have stopped working with a alert that says the server couldn't be found, but my IMAP accounts seem to be working fine. this is true on my iphone as well but when I use the cellular network on my I phone all my accounts work IMAP and POP3. Strangely if I use webmail all accounts work. It is an issue only with the mail app. any help would help. I have deleted and reinstalled the accounts, I have deleted all saved email stuff in the keychain including email certificates and passwords. put everything back in and still not working.

A friend at work gave me a fix that worked

Search online for the DNS settings of your internet provider and note down the Primary DNS setting

On your iPhone or iPad

Go to Settings > WiFi

then go into your wifi settings to find the DNS setting

Change that DNS setting to the Primary DNS setting provided by your network provider

I 'Upgraded' my iPhone 6 to IOS 8.2 last night. Now I can't send/receive email (Exchange) whilst on wifi but it works fine on 3G. I tried deleting my account and reloading it. It wouldn't reload (verify) whilst on wifi but it reloaded fine on 3G. Even more strangely, my iPad is still on 8.1 (I didn't upgrade it) but now that also won't work for exchange email on wifi but is fine on 3G. My wifi is fine - internet working, and my wife's iphone 6 is working normally (she didn't upgrade to 8.2). Can anyone offer assistance ? I've looked at reversing the upgrade but it looks like a nightmare process !

I'm having the same problem, but I'm not on an iphone. I have a Go-Daddy exchange e-mail account that DOES work on my home wifi but DOES NOT work on my library's Wifi. Everything else works fine on the library wifi----gmail, yahoo mail, internet searches, etc. But the exchange e-mail does not connect on my macbook AND it does not connect on my samsung phone wifi. After talking with Go Daddy, they suggested that I turn off the wifi on the phone to see what happens. When I did this the exchange e-mail DID come into the phone. Interestingly, when I connect to outlook 365 mail over the internet, the internet page is also offline (although all other websites work fine.) So here's my take on it: It's not the macbook (since the e-mail works on my home wifi); it's not iOS (because I'm having the same problem on my Samsung phone); it's not the exchange server (since I get the e-mails on my phone when I turn off the wifi). It's clearly a problem related to the wifi here at the library, and this is concerning because I'm wondering how often I'm going to run into this problem getting e-mails outside of my home. I still haven't figured out a solution.

Update on my last post: I decided to switch from my library's WiFi to xfinitywifi (while still at the library). Exchange synced as soon as it connected to the xfinitywifi. It's definitely due to a setting on the library's wifi. If you're having problems at home, focus on your wifi settings before messing with other hardware/software.

I had "no mail" pop up on my iphone under folders which I was looking for emails in. I went to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > *picked the email I wanted to fix* > Clicked on "Mail Days to Sync" and changed from "1 Week" to "No Limit."

Everything popped up in my folders! 🙂
