I would like to deactivate scrolling with two fingers on trackpad.
I would like to use the scrollbar for scrolling only.
It is really anyoing for instance to select a text and suddendly scrolling interferes with the workflow!

Anyone with a solution? It is really annoying to edit and write texts with the scroll function kicking in randomly. Also with google maps it really s- u - c * k s to have the scrolling kicking in. And also layouting is less efficient. So please, Apple, can we fix this ASAP?
There may be a third-party utility that could help you out. It's BetterTouchTool or BTT - BetterTouchTool 0.991.
Are you really suggesting I should download a third-party utility, actually built to offer more functions, to be able to deactivate a preset Mavericks-function that with the current Mavericks-Version cannot be deactivated? I dont see BetterTouch mentioning a function that deactivates preset gestures, moreover it seems it's all about adding more gestures. Does Apple really have no solution to this problem?

Please don't use ad hominems here, stay professional, please! It really appears apple has no solution and also the third party BetterTouchTool App you suggested cannot fix the problem. Apple-Mavericks preset forced random scrolling is a dismal failure and I hope this will be fixed asap. Anyone else, maybe a Quality Manager from the Mavericks-Team?

For Mavericks OSX 10.9 the solution is found in System Preferences / Accessibility
Kind of a strange place to hide a basic function for trackpad options and overall usability.
Uncheck the ( ) Scrolling box and the issue is resolved.
It's great to keep an interface simple, but this is a not an elegant solution.
Steve would have fired the team in charge ;-)
