I have an Imac and use Hotmail. I can receive however I cannot send

Thanks for the quick response however not sure what you mean. Can you walk through it step by step. I am not very computer literate.
Also when I went inot safari and used hotmail it worked fine.
I want to know the settings in use by your Hotmail account, look in Mails Preferences and post them here.
INCOMING MAIL
Account type POP
Description Hotmail
Incoming server Hostname pop.3.live.com
User name (My hotmail address)
Password (my password)
Incoming port number 995
Incoming server port authen. Password
Incoiming server supports SSL
OUTGOING MAIL
Outgoing mail server smtp.live.com
Outgoing server port 587 (SMTP)
Outgoing server supports (SSL) Yes
Outgoing server authentication Password (I try the same password as incoming however it does not accept this)
Check that password is correct at the Hotmail website, if it is change your password and use the new one from now on.
