exs24 white noise

Are you getting any other audio? What audio interface are you using? As well, which samples were you using? I can't say I've ever experienced this problem on the EXS.

I don't know WHY it happens but I can suggest a few things I do when it does.

1. Firstly, if you're sampler instruments folder has been symbolically linked to an external drive, then make sure that drive is on (i know sounds obvious but I'm just telling you what I do).

2. In the EXS24 pull down menu, select "refresh menu". This should get the project manager to locate your sampler instruments.

3. If 1&2 fail, try and see if you've got 2 of the same sampler instruments (i.e. same name) One will be your culprit, the other will be you sampler instrument.

Failing all of the above I can only wish you best of luck with your project. I'm sure someone here will be able to help more.

Did the problem occur after you converted your AIFF files to WAV? If so, do you have the AIFF files and can you recreate the instrument from the AIFF files?

I've also noticed EXS24 doesn't support 24bit files. I always need to change to 16 bit for them to work. But then again, I work with rex files in the EXS.

Yours may be a REX thing. I have a bunch of samples created from 24 Bit AIFF files that work no problem.

Oh for real? But I use recylcle 2.1. What do you use jord? Or do you manually create your instruments?

I manually create my own instruments either from recording the samples or converting various recordings. I don't use Recycle (hence, why I said that it may be a REX issue).

I have had this problem a few times over the years. Usually with old projects I have later re-opened. But tonight, the day before departing for two weeks of on-site intense arranging, a new sampler instrument I made for the project went mental on me. Lovely, sparkly, ethereal noises turned into painful white noise mash. aargh. I admit I was a fool to update to 7.2.3 at such a crucial time. That's the only thing I did between nice noise and scary.
I have not identified a common factor when this horrific error occurrs.
When loading the sample (from exs24editor) into the Sample Editor window, it plays back fine. Hmmm?

I ain't got much to add to this thread other than sympathy and a small cry of desparation.

Both seem dreadful solutions but if it works...
I ended up rebuilding the sampler instument step by step. It works now. i.e. I spent an hour and a half re-doing my work.
Surely this is some kinda bug.

I had white noise once, but only on some piano samples I bought. Using Redmatica's EXSManager with some carefully-applied settings (can't remember much about that...) which made sure that all samples were at the same bit-rate, cured it. Apparently differing sample rates were to blame.

Hope you get your problem fixed.
