Whenever I try to take a picture, talk on FaceTime,Snapchat , skype or whatever involves a front camera (selfie camera) I get a weird black line thing going down the side of my screen. How can I stop it and why is it there?

Are you talking about the darkened section that says photo video and square in photo mode ?
No it's an actual darkened part of the screen that goes down vertically on the side of my ipad everytime I try to take a picture or video with my front camera. It appears everytime I try to take a picture/video with my front camera.
Try a reset. If you could post a screen shot that would be good. If not bring it to the Apple Store and let them have a look.
